Wallace Chan - 'When Consciousness Condenses to a Tiny Dot, the World of Matter Dissolves'

In a recent television interview, Hong Kong sculptor of jewellery Wallace Chan explained his philosophy, drawing his inspiration from the very heart of Buddhist wisdom:
'... In fact, for me, jewellery is a means of working on oneself, it is a way to perfect oneself. And this "working on oneself" begins with love, love for Heaven, love for the Earth, love for all beings and of course also love for precious stones.
When I look at a precious stone, I look at it until I forget myself, until I disappear. That's the moment when I realize that a precious stone is a universe, it is an intimate life full of feelings. I enter into communication with the stone. And through this exchange I am in contact with the natural beauty hidden in the very heart of the stone.
It is this discovery that enables me to explore that part of reality to then arrive at an abstraction and finally return to an enriched, sublimated reality.
That, to me, is the process of creation.'
