Inspiration in Mountain Snow

An abundance of inspiration amidst the snowy Alpine landscape in the early spring. Still, serene, light-filled. The sun-rays gently softening the edges of the snowpack on the roofs, forming captivating shapes as the pack splits, tears, falls away. Glorious curves and folds. Icicles sharp and glistening as they drip, drip, drip.

Textures changing

Fascinating shapes forming as the heavy wet eroding snow weighs down the branches

The snow layers built up over the winter

Straight lines softened

This is how snow behaves this time of year. It inspires me for my work in white clay; the flowing form-finding pieces (click 'Form Finding' in the Series/Themes menu for clarification in previous posts) and the process/material-focussed pieces where of course the material - clay - will behave differently and the challenge will be to acknowledge and harness that, taking the snow inspiration as the starting point.
It will be interesting to see how all this evolves ...
